2005 toyota 4runner sr5 was taken into a certified toyota mechanic for inspection and the mechanic showed me the undercarriage of the vehicle, namely the frame and other associated parts. He warned that it would be difficult to perform maintenance on the vehicle if the frame is rotted through. The vehicle was put on a lift for inspection.

Frame is rotting from the inside out. Very little visible corrosion, and all of the sudden larhe sections of missing steel. This vehicle only has 157,600 miles, and should have lasted to 300,000, as it is mechanically solid. I think the tundra, tacoma, and sequoia recall, should have added the 4runner. Took my vehicle for oil change and was advised that the frame was badly rusted and should take vehicle to toyota immediately. Toyota indicated that no recall was issued for this year model vehicle and nothing could be done. So i have a mechanically good vehicle that i can not use due to rusted frame.
