2006 toyota 4runner. i was quoted $1,500 for a time cover oil leak repair in lakeland, fl. there was a tsb issued 2007 (eg049-07). apparently, most of the charge is for labor, the replacement part is not expensive. i understand the avalon has the same problem. this repair cost is astronomical, especially considering that it's a commonly known problem in toyotas - possibly from poor design. i don't think the consumer should have to absorb the cost of this repair. hopefully, something is being done to help the consumer. *tr

Steering has knocking sound while turning left or right, it started at about 62000 miles. also replaced coil pack #2 and # 4 at 49000 miles had another go out a year later, delership told me to replace the remaining 4 coil packs, by only replacing the corruped one will cause the ohers to fail. *tr
Highway merge ramp at almost full throttle twice, once passing another vehicle on highway at also high throttle usage, accelerator pedal was stuck open vehicle continued to accelerate felt like cruise control was engaged but wasn't. i stepped on brakes but that didn't help, i then hit the accelerator pedal with my right foot and the pedal went back to normal. *tr
2006 4runner sport edition 4wd -toyota- 38k miles on vehicle. all the bolts that hold the clutch assembly to the a/c compressor is rusting out to the point that the compressor will come apart during driving and damage other components and probable cause accident. this was notice at ~24k and it's getting worst. presently, all the bolts head is almost gone and apart from the rusting bolts there is a second part on the clutch assemble that is also rusting. toyota will not accept it under there warranty. *tr
Exhaust system. catalytic converter. smell of sulfur/rotten eggs when accelerating especially going up a hill. took car to dealer and they replaced catalytic converters. a few months later the problem persists. it seems now it does this more often. *tr
Exhaust is being pulled into back window when cracked and the vehicle resets the air flow to recycle. i crack the back window to allow heat to escape and had the air flow set on fresh air. i make a stop and get back into the car the window is still cracked. some time later there is a smell of exhaust and i realize the flow was reset and fumes are getting pulled into the vehicle. the biggest problem is my child is in the back seat and she is already choking when the odor gets to me. *tr
Toyota 2006 4runner 4wd limited discharges a sulfur smell when i accelerate, especially when i am going up a hill. the smell is strong even when my windows are up. i'm also concerned about the smell being a health issue. i purchased the car brand new in february 2006. *jb
I recently purchased a new 2006 toyota 4 runner. i have had nothing but motor transmission, electrical failures. i have only had my vehicle for 1 month and anything and every thing has gone wrong. i even had to give my daughter cpr on the side of the road due to carbon monoxide inhalation. she went into respiratory failure do to this she has severe asthma. *jb
When my 2006 toyota 4runner is running or when acceleration a rotten egg smell comes from the catalytic converter. i have taken the vehicle in and the dealer claims there is nothing they can do. i have never had this problem on any other vehicles i have owned. *nm
