We have classified the 2 complaints from 1999 Toyota 4Runner about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
Abs light ;po500 code speed sensor a speedometer not working, wont shift into gear with abs light on windows malfunction and all electric windows stopped working possibly due to same abs circuite as noticed same exact timeframe. apart from that prior malfunctions include airbag light stays on needs restting from dealer and also horn does not operate. missing/no factory installed fog lamps --dealer wants over 1,200.00 for 2 basic fog lamps from their parts dept.
Air bags failed to deploy on feb. 10, 2010 following a serious front end crash (30-50 mph) of our 1999 toyota 4 runner. as a result wife was hospitalized for 2 days with concussion, sprained neck and ptss.california highway patrol responded. report taken. *tr
While driving at highway speeds it became necessary to take evasive maneuvers. when i slammed on the brakes i did not feel the abs engage. i lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail. when this occurred the vehicle rolled front over back and the airbags never deployed. this concerned me. how can a vehicle roll over and the airbags never deploy?*ak
Owner was driving 20mph when another vehicle traveling at 60mph hit consumer's vehicle on driver's side, neither airbag deployed. driver suffered injuries and was hospitalized. *ak manufacturer notified.
While at a complete stop consumer was rear ended by a 18 wheeler truck, and was pushed into vehicle in front. upon impact, air bags did not go off. contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything. *ak
Consumer was traveling about 25mph on the two lane highway. there were some pedesttrians on side on the shoulders . there was a vehicle in-front of consumer, and no lights on at all. consumer hit vehicle from behind. dual airbag didn't go off, and seat belts didn't retract. her daughter went through windshield and into steering wheel. there were 2 injuries. *ak
